I can’t believe that it’s already December. I feel like as I get older I have a harder time getting into the holiday spirit. And this year isn’t any different. I just can’t get into it. I don’t even want any gifts – there’s nothing that I want; there’s nothing that I need. I tried baking some cookies to see if it helps to get into the holiday spirit, but it just didn’t. So I can’t share that with you, but I can share some awesome cookies! And I’ll do just that. [Read more...]
I have some pretty exciting news to share with you! My Dessert Tour is now on Groupon! SideTour was acquired by Groupon about a month ago. My Dessert Tour was hand-picked to be featured on the Groupon platform. So that means a lot more exposure! How exciting! So if you’re in the Philadelphia area, please come out and join me! I’d love to share my favorite desserts with you!
So far I’ve hosted one, and there was a really good turn out.
I’m pretty sure everyone loved the desserts and they were all full by the time we left the last stop.
Cookies, Cupcakes, Blondies and Ice Cream. Yum!
I need to let you in on a little secret. I have a link that will get you a $20 credit towards my Dessert Tour. So the ticket that is normally $30 will only be $10. Cha-ching! How awesome is that? You just have to claim the credit and book by midnight on September 3rd. Totally doable, right?
It’s that simple.
Hope you to see you on the tour!
Crumbs Bakeshop has released a Girl Scout Thin Mint Cupcake.
So you just know that I had to try it. I love cupcakes, and Thin Mints are one of my favorite Girl Scout Cookies.
Here’s the details on the cupcake – It’s a Devil’s food cake filled with fudge and topped with mint cream cheese frosting edged in chocolate cake crumbs with a Girl Scout Thin Mints® cookie in the center.
Now to me, mint cream cheese frosting doesn’t really sound all that appealing. But I’m in the camp that believes that cream cheese frosting belongs on Carrot Cake. I have to say it was just okay. I didn’t take a bite of this cupcake and ohhh and ahhh that it was so good. I was just kind of like “ehhhh” on the whole thing.
What would I have done differently, you ask? Well personally I would’ve gone with a mint flavored chocolate cupcake topped with a vanilla buttercream frosting that was edged in crushed thin mint cookies. And of course a whole thin mint cookie would go on top.
So while I like the idea of a Thin Mint Cupcake, the execution really underwhelmed me.
Available for a limited time only.

A while ago Mr. Curly Fry’s brother told us that we have to try Insomnia Cookies. That they’re really good and that we would love them. So I looked them up and at the time they only had locations in West Philly and one out near Temple. I’m willing to travel distances for cupcakes, but not cookies. So I kind of forgot about them and went on about my business.
Fast forward to yesterday. I saw something on Philly.com about this new Insomnia Cookies store that opened up in Center City. I was intrigued. So I looked up the location and what do you know?! They are located not even a full block from my office. Uh oh. This could get dangerous! So I knew that I’d have to make a pit stop on my way home from work to pick up some cookies. How could I not? As I was walking down the street I could literally start to smell the cookies. So I followed the scent of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and I ended up in their store!
