I just wanted to take a moment to let everyone know about a weather blog that I absolutely love. Rob Guarino (he used to be a Meteorologist for Fox 29 here in Philly) runs a weather site called “Liveweatherblogs” – it’s an online weather community that gives more than just the forecast, and they go into great detail explaining everything. They are there to educate you and tell you the reasons behind their forecasts. They teach you about the different models, and they straight up tell you what’s going to happen! When there’s a big storm about to happen, you can often find Rob in the weather chat room chatting with the community members.

This site is wonderful and I’ve learned so much from it. I always look forward to the new blogs posted by Rob, other Mets, and other members. Check it out!

So get this. Last week I got into my car and turned it on. This is what I saw:

Holy crap. Are there enough fives there? I couldn’t believe it. It was just so strange. What are the odds of that?! Probably like 5 in 5,555,555.55! So I just had to snap a pic.

And of course I tried playing the lottery last week, but no dice.

At least my Grandmother would be proud I played the lottery!

Fridge

My new fridge finally came last week. So now my appliances match again! So far, I love it. It’s a bit of an adjustment from our last (ugly) fridge, but I’m getting used to it!

Snow

We’re about to get a bit more of that white stuff they call snow. We got 2 feet of snow over the weekend, and now we could get up to 2 more feet of snow. I’m happy to be able to work from home, but sheesh, where am I going to put this snow? We’ve run out of room.

This isn’t a great pic; it’s from my Blackberry. But this is what our deck looked like at 8:30am on Saturday morning – please note that it snowed until about 1pm!

It looks like Mr. CurlyFry has some shoveling to do in his future. I helped shovel on Saturday morning, and he was being bossy! According to him “there’s a science to shoveling” – and apparently I do it all wrong! Fine with me – he can do it all himself.

And then he’ll spend the rest of the day gloating about how wonderful it looks. Whatever makes him happy…

this morning we ended up moving One Curly Fry from blogger to wordpress. so far i’m loving it. it was a fairly smooth transition, and i have a feeling we’ll love it here.

…you are totally thrilled to get new kitchen appliances.

Seriously. I was like a little kid on Christmas day last week when my new stove, microwave and dishwasher were delivered and installed. We ordered a new fridge, but it can’t be delivered until February 16th. So until then it’s killing me that all of my appliances don’t match.

So below you can see the old stove & microwave, and my sparkling new ones. And you can see the old, ugly dishwasher along with my new, sparkling, pretty dishwasher!

Of course now I’m totally dying for a new floor and counter top! The gray has GOTTA go. And we need to paint the walls to get a little color in there.

Now give me your opinions!

Blockbuster Online = FAIL

I feel it is my duty to let you all know that Blockbuster Online is awful. We signed up for a 4 week trial. They’ve wasted 2 weeks out of my 4 week trial sending the wrong discs, and then re-sending them over and over again after I told them not to. This happened on a few separate occasions.

Their Customer Service is atrocious. Once an issue has been reported, that movie is “generally” set aside so that it can be inspected by their “Quality Assurance” team. I was told that “Regrettably, the DVD You notified us about previously was shipped before going through this process.” – Oh really? What a surprise. And I guess all of the other movies that weren’t the correct discs shipped before going through that process too, right?

And not to mention the fact that the discs take at least two days to get to me, and then two days to get back to them. And Blockbuster probably wonders why they are losing out to Netflix and Redbox. And why they have to close so many stores. Well – this is probably part of the reason!

And they try to “make it all better” (aka pacify me) by offering me two e-coupons to use in my local Blockbuster store. Well if I wanted to get movies out of my local Blockbuster store I wouldn’t have signed up for an ONLINE subscription. Duh. Not to mention the fact that my local Blockbuster store doesn’t have the discs that we had in our queue.

So if you’re looking for an online movie subscription, choose Netflix. They’re wonderful and we’ve never had any of the problems we’ve had with Blockbuster.

So Blockbuster Online gets a big FAIL and they won’t ever get our business again.

Getting Organized: Pantry

In an effort to get my kitchen more organized, I cleaned out the pantry. Oh what a task that was! As you can see, it was a disaster, and it needed cleaned out in the worst way. I had no idea what was in there, and I knew there were some items in there past their expiration date!

It was quite the mess, wasn’t it? Looking for something in there was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Seriously! So I put on some music and went to work.

Skinny latte

One of the awesome perks for working at my company is that they pay for our coffee/tea drinks from Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. There is a gift card for each place, and they are both pretty much loaded up with unlimited funds. When you want a latte, coffee, frapp, iced green tea, etc you just grab the card and go on your merry way.

There’s usually a crew that goes to Starbucks in the morning, and one that goes in the afternoon. We need to be caffeinated twice a day to handle all of this work…lol!

So yesterday I joined the afternoon crew (I run on Dunkin in the morning for my coffee!). I ordered a tall nonfat cinnamon dolce latte. I prefer the latte made with 2% milk, but let’s face it – I don’t need those extra calories. The girl asked if I wanted the sugar free syrup, and I said NO! I want the regular syrup.

So I get back to my office with my drink and I take a sip. EWWWWWWW. They used that sugar free crap. Ugh. It totally ruined the entire drink. I’d gladly take the stairs up 22 flights of stairs to my office if that meant never having to drink that sugar free garbage again. Apparently it’s a “skinny latte” – ick.

Please tell me one thing – Who drinks this crap and thinks it tastes good?!

I swear to you that motor oil would’ve tasted better to me. It left this super nasty after taste in my mouth. I couldn’t even drink it. I hope the trash enjoyed it, because I sure as hell didn’t.
