Cupcake Monday: Pamcakes – Over a Year Later!

It’s no secret that I love cupcakes. We moved to a new part of the city last month and that means that I’m only a few blocks away from Pamcakes! This is dangerous. Very dangerous. Because I can be there and back in 15 minutes or so.  It wouldn’t be fair to just pick one cupcake place as my favorite. Because there are three of them that I love. My favorites here in Philadelphia are from Pamcakes, Ms. Goody, and the Sweetbox Truck.

It was a beautiful day so I figured that I’d take a walk over to Pamcakes and get some cupcakes since it’s been quite a while since I’ve had the chance to stop by. So in true One Curly Fry fashion I picked out six flavors. Who on earth would be able to go to a Cupcake Shop and only pick out a flavor or two? Not me.

I walked home with this pink beauty.

I really wanted us to eat them right when I got home, but knew we had to wait until later that night. We were going to be heading to the Midtown Fall Festival and there was some beer to drink!

Let’s dig in!

Cookies & Cream

Vanilla Cookie Crumb Cake, Vanilla Cream Filling,
Creamy Vanilla Buttercream, topped with Cookie Crumbs

We’re a huge fan of Cookies & Cream. If there’s anything on a menu that says Cookies & Cream I’m there, no questions asked.

Just like the last time, this one did not  disappoint.  The cake was nice and moist, and the vanilla buttercream had the perfect sweetness.

The bonus vanilla cream filling was a very welcomed addition!

Pumpkin Chip

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cake topped
with Honey Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

It’s fall, so that means that I’m into fall flavors. Pumpkin? Yes, please. Sign me up. And adding chocolate chips to anything just makes it that much better (if you ask me). So I knew I had to try this one. I’ve never gone to Pamcakes in the fall so I knew I had to try this one.

The cake was nice and moist, and had the perfect pumpkin flavor. I loved the amount of chocolate chips in it as well. There weren’t too many, but there were enough.

I’m going to need you to sit down for a minute before I talk about the frosting. Honey Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting. That’s all that needs to be said. I loved it.  I’ve had some not-so-good Cinnamon frosting experiences before – but this one was amazing. Definitely a winner.

Spiced Carrot

Walnut Studded Carrot Cake, Sweet Cream Cheese Frosting

I love Carrot Cake.  But I don’t love all Carrot Cake. Sometimes the flavors aren’t right. I love so many of Pam’s cupcakes that I wanted to see how her Spiced Carrot Cupcake was.

The cake was full of little bits of walnuts and it was nice and moist.  I just love the amount of sweet cream cheese frosting that was on that cupcake. I was in heaven. Mr. Curly Fry doesn’t like nuts so this was mine…all mine.

The Classic

Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Cake, Creamy Milk Chocolate Buttercream

I always love a classic cupcake. The vanilla cake was amazing and reminds me of birthday cake. The creamy milk chocolate buttercream was awesome. This cupcake reminds me of my childhood. I used to get so excited when I heard that my Mom made vanilla cake with chocolate icing.  With all of the different flavors of cupcakes out there sometimes I feel like the classic doesn’t get enough love.

Triple Chocolate Threat

Chocolate Chip Studded Chocolate Cake, Creamy Chocolate Buttercream

As usual, this one had Mr. Curly Fry’s name on it. He’s all about chocolate and this one was gone in no time flat. I didn’t even get a chance to taste this one but that’s fine since I was busy eating that Spiced Carrot Cupcake 🙂  He said the chocolate cake was nice and moist and the chocolate chips were a nice touch. The chocolate buttercream was amazing as usual.

Peanut Butter Cup

Double Chocolate Chip Cake, Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting, Peanut Butter Cup Topping

I’m a sucker for Peanut Butter Frosting. Seriously, I love it.  And this was made perfectly. I loved everything about it. It had the perfect sweetness, the perfect amount of peanut butter in it, and it was seriously fluffy! I just wish I had a spoon and large bowl full of it! 🙂  There was a generous amount of frosting on the cupcake but it was so good I couldn’t get enough.

So as you can see, Cupcakes from Pamcakes are still delicious.  And I live even closer now, which means I can stop by to pick up new flavors that I haven’t tried that pop up on the menu. I’m still interested to try the following flavors:

  • Pam’s KandyCake TastyCake

  • Strawberry Cheesecake

  • Peanut Butter & Jelly

  • Monkey Business

  • Irish Car Bombs

  • Mint Cookies & Cream

I’d love to see some kind of S’mores Cupcake on the menu, as well as something with Apple in it for fall!
