It’s no secret that Pamcakes is one of my favorite Cupcake Shops in Philly. I’ve been there a bunch of times and I’ve shared my experiences with you! So when I heard there were some holiday flavors available, I knew I had to try them and share them with you! It certainly is dangerous living only 5 blocks from these delicious cupcakes because it’s way too convenient to stop by. I picked up a box of 6 cupcakes, with 4 of the holiday flavors that were available that day. I couldn’t just walk out with those 4 cupcakes; I had to get 2 of the everyday flavors to take home as well.

Before we talk about these cupcakes, I have to show you these super cute Peanuts/Snoopy holiday plates that I got years ago. I don’t decorate much for the holidays, but I had to get these plates out.

I have to start out with the Maple Walnut Pancake Cupcake because I’m still dreaming about it. Seriously – it’s that good. Don’t get me wrong, they were all good. But that one just stood out to me. It’s a maple walnut cake topped with vanilla maple buttercream and crushed toasted walnuts.

And you’ll see there’s this little puddle of maple syrup that sits on top.

This vanilla maple buttercream is one of the best buttercreams that I’ve ever had. I’d like a bowl of it with a spoon, please. The cake was nice and moist and that buttercream…just awesome.

And then I got to dig into the maple drizzle!

If I’m being honest here, I don’t like Eggnog – at all. The thought of having to drink some gives me anxiety and turns my stomach. I’m all about the bourbon so I had to try this Spiked Eggnog Cupcake. You know, for you guys! 

It is an eggnog cupcake spiked with a dash of Bourbon topped with spiced rum eggnog buttercream. I have to say that this cupcake was actually pretty good. I’ll say that I definitely prefer eggnog in cupcake form. I really enjoyed the bourbon flavor! This wasn’t my favorite cupcake, but it was good enough to eat again. And if you like Eggnog you should definitely pick this one up.

I like peppermint. But I don’t love peppermint. And there are few peppermint things that I’ll eat. I do love candy canes – even though I haven’t had one yet this year! I like peppermint gum. I love Breyers Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. I don’t like any of that green mint chocolate chip ice cream though. That stuff is not good to me. I really do not like peppermint lattes from Starbucks. Yuck. I don’t like peppermint + espresso. There are two peppermint cupcakes on the holiday menu, and I tasted them both. Because, well, why not?

First up is the Chocolate Peppermint Cupcake and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! I wasn’t expecting the cupcake to be bad at all – I just wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did! The thought of mint brownies and other mint desserts just doesn’t appeal to me. But honestly this was an awesome cupcake! I really liked it and I would definitely order it again.

It’s a chocolate cake topped with vanilla peppermint buttercream drizzled with chocolate ganache. I think a big part of why I liked this cupcake was because Pam didn’t overdo it with the peppermint flavor in the buttercream. It was the perfect amount of peppermint flavor and she didn’t go overboard. Plus, isn’t it such a beautiful cupcake?! Look at it!

Last, but certainly not least, we have the Vanilla Peppermint Cupcake. This was a really good cupcake, but I definitely preferred the Chocolate Peppermint Cupcake just because I liked those flavors better together. But I have absolutely nothing against this vanilla peppermint one – it’s still very good and I would definitely recommend it! It’s a vanilla cake topped with vanilla peppermint buttercream and crushed peppermint candies. And just like the chocolate peppermint one, it sure is a beauty!
