One year ago today…

…I signed my life away and became a homeowner!

[This picture was taken the day we closed, so the flower beds, bushes, etc. look horrible! I need to take an updated picture - looks much nicer now!]

I honestly can’t believe that it’s been one year. Carlos and I were talking last night about how it seems like we’ve only lived there for a few months.

But it’s been ONE.YEAR.

And I feel like there is still SOOOOO much that I want to do in the house. Re-do the downstairs powder room, get the master bathroom painted (very high ceilings and I’m not doing it myself, lol!), renovate the kitchen (new floor, center island, back splash, new counter tops, etc.), paint the finished basement, get a new deck built, get a retractable awning for over the deck, etc.

If money grew on trees…

Are you a homeowner? If so, what is the #1 thing you want to work on/upgrade in your house?

Home Sweet Home

We’re home from our vacation, and I’m back to work – It was so nice to go away, but it was also nice to come home! It was SO HOT down there. That’s the one thing I wasn’t a fan of. The heat. And humidity.

I’ll be posting some highlights from our trip in a bit. I have so much to get caught up on here at work first. It was so nice having yesterday off so that I could sleep in, grocery shop, etc.

Until I return, I’ll leave you with this…

(Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake — vanilla cake with a gooey toffee filling and caramel sauce topped with vanilla ice cream from Liberty Tree Tavern – SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!)

Can I Upgrade You?

ONE DAY!

And I haven’t done a thing yet! Oops. Laundry is not done. Suitcases are not out yet. Nothing is set aside. Nothing is packed.

Thank goodness I’m working from home today.

And as if I didn’t have enough to do, when I went and got my hair done yesterday I left my coat there. So now I have to go back and pick it up around lunch time.

I just checked us in for our flight tomorrow bright & early. I also upgraded us to Business Class…but I’m not telling Carlos. It’ll be a surprise! I’m so ready for this vacation. Please cross your fingers it’s not too hot. The Mister doesn’t like hot weather. LOL! Maybe I’ll get a chance or two to upload some fun pics while we’re there. Stay tuned!

Counting down the days…

FOUR!

I’m trying to wrap things up this week before we head to the Happiest Place on Earth on Saturday! I definitely need a vacation. I’m just so exhausted from life in general – the get up at the ass crack of dawn, go to work, come home, make dinner, clean up, try to stay awake, go to sleep, rinse & repeat!

So this will be a great thing for me.

I’m sure people there will drive me nuts, but I’ll deal with it. It may be the Happiest Place on Earth, but there are many people that leave their manners at home. And for some reason, people have issues with forming a line, and going to the END of it.

I’m sure they’ll be some interesting stories upon my return.

I’m definitely looking forward to the food and the drinks! We’ll be able to check out the Epcot Food & Wine Festival for a few days – so I’m excited about that. I’ll be doing a full trip review (mostly of the food & drinks!) when I get back.

Food Porn for everyone!

Congrats Nancy & Billy!!!!!!

Congrats on the birth of Jane Elizabeth!

The Joys of Home Ownership

I haven’t had a chance to blog lately because I’ve been wrapped up in the joys of Home Ownership. There’s nothing like waiting til the last minute to have the exterior of your house painted, to power wash and stain the deck, and trim the outside bushes. Everything had to be done by yesterday, and I think we got everything done.

My Dad and I also installed a storm door, which I absolutely love. You know you’re old when a storm door excites you! LOL. I don’t have a picture of the door, but I’ll have to post one to show you what a gem it is!

I can post a picture of the deck. I power washed it on Saturday, and then Carlos and I spent Sunday staining it. What a project that was. But we got it done, and it looks great! When we moved into the house, it was a red color, which is not permitted in my neighborhood (gotta love the HOA). So I chose a Chestnut Brown (although personally I don’t think it looks like a chestnut brown? But Behr says it is…) since I needed something that would cover the illegal red.

Here is a before picture (well, from a year ago – in the year I’ve owned the house it has definitely faded):

And this is what it looks like now…

Now it’s time to start getting ready for vacation!!! I can’t wait. This is definitely a much needed vaca.

I love this time of year – baseball, football, FALL, chilly weather, and lots more!

What do you like most about this time of year?
