Thank you for not flushing…

The picture below may be a bit hard to read, but this was a sign on the door to the bathroom stall in Kohl’s.

I would like to know exactly where you’re supposed to put the tampons then?

LOL

Carlos played basketball last night, so I was on my own for dinner. I’m still trying to use up food we have in the house/freezer/pantry so I had Tomato, Basil & Mozzarella with Fresh Garlic, EVOO and Balsamic Vinegar. I was going to use my fresh basil, but it wasn’t very good anymore so I had to toss it. I also had a slice of garlic toast.

And we’ll say goodbye with some pretty flowers…

And we have a winner!

I won! I won!

And Congrats to Heather who won, too!

I won a pair of tickets from Mom Knows It All to the Grand Market Expo at the Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival!

We already bought tickets to The Melting Pot Presents: The Art of Fondue hosted by Duff Goldman and Ingrid Hoffmann, so I didn’t want to spend more on the Expo tickets (worth $60!). So I entered a contest to win them…and I won!

I certainly hope that Carlos and I don’t roll into the Pool at Harrah’s after we’re done eating!

What a beauty.

We got up early on Saturday morning and we went grill shopping at Lowe’s. We had a gas grill at our last place, but I got it in 2002 and needless to say it was time to say goodbye. We moved into our house back on October 1st, and since then we’ve been using this small little charcoal grill.

I thought that I wanted a Weber grill, but when we got to Lowe’s this beauty caught my eye…

It was quite an ordeal to get it home. It involved renting a truck from Lowe’s (for only $19! What a bargain), but we got it home. Since we were renting the truck, we figured why not buy one that was fully assembled? That means less work for us! Well…buying it fully assembled means getting it upstairs and out on the deck! That was also an adventure! There’s never a dull moment with us!

So needless to say, we’re on a grilling kick. I swear we have about 30 lbs of meat in the freezer. On the menu for tonight is Quesadillas on the grill! There will be your choice of steak or chicken, with grilled green peppers, grilled onions, and cheese.

Give Away!!!

Blueberry Coffee Cake

So I had a pint of blueberries to use (I don’t like them by themselves, but I like them in a muffin, bread, etc) so I decided to make Blueberry Best Coffee Cake from the Betty Crocker web site. It was easy to make, and I thought it turned out quite good! There was definitely no shortage of blueberries in it!! I didn’t put the vanilla glaze on it, although I would if I was going to have people over for breakfast.

Here’s how it turned out:

And here you can see how it’s jam packed with blueberries:

I was really trying this recipe out for when I need a good coffee cake to make when having guests over for breakfast. I’ll definitely keep this one in my recipe box.

Today's lunch

Today’s lunch features a turkey hot dog (leftover from dinner last night), Velveeta Shells & Cheese, and Apple Slices with Yogurt Fruit Dip.

This will also feature a Product Review, since while back I picked up a little individual serving of Velveeta Shells & Cheese made with 2% milk from the grocery store. I figured it would be good to take into work for lunch, to go as a side dish.

All you have to do is add some water and microwave for 3 1/2 minutes, and then once it’s done you add the packet of cheese and stir. Let it melt and you’re good to go.

I thought it was pretty good. It was very cheesy. I didn’t think it was as good as the regular Velveeta Shells & Cheese, but then again this is a quick microwave job, ya know? Would I get it again? Sure, why not. It was a nice side dish to go with my turkey hot dog and my apples with yogurt fruit dip. And since Carlos thinks you can’t eat anything other than French Fries or Onion Rings with Hot Dogs or Hamburgers, this isn’t something I’d have at home to accompany a hot dog for dinner! LOL!

Mmmmm, Apples with Yogurt Fruit Dip.

I'm doing my part to benefit Older Pennsylvanians.

So on the way to my friend’s baby shower I stopped at a rest stop to get a drink, use the restrooms, etc. Well I noticed that there was a self serve kiosk thingy for the Pennsylvania Lottery! How neat! I’m all about the self serve things in life – I love the machines they have at Wawa so I can build my own sandwich, I love to check myself out at the grocery store, etc. So of course I decided that I need to give it a whirl. I bought a few Powerball tickets for last night.

The drawing was last night (which I forgot about until I saw the tickets on my fridge this morning) so I put the tickets in my wallet so I could check them this morning. Sadly, I didn’t win the jackpot! But I wasn’t a complete loser either! I won the whole $3!!! I’ll try not to spend it all in one place.

Notice that the one ticket has the Power Play – which last night was 5 (I just learned this morning what that even means!) – why couldn’t that have been on the ticket where I actually matched the Powerball?! Then I would’ve won a whopping $15! But I must admit that when I purchased the tickets, I had no clue what I was doing! My Grandmother would be horrified. Her and my Aunts were the Queens of the lottery. I swear to you that they bought like $20 of tickets EACH daily.

And don’t forget the scratchies…
